Fast response from oxygen analyser
The Series 2700 fast-response oxygen analyser uses an advanced, compact paramagnetic oxygen sensor to provide accurate and repeatable results with millisecond response times.
The globalisation and worldwide recognition of the Nadcap accreditation was enhanced by the subscription of Airbus in July 2003.
They joined other major companies within the Nadcap programme such as Honeywell, GE, Rolls-Royce and Boeing.
The next stage for WMT and R will be to continue gaining end-user approval status from such specifiers, a process already completed at the US site.
Said Neil Poyner, Managing Director of the UK venture: "The progress we have made in just under a year is amazing".
"We have successfully commissioned the facility and have gained prestigious UKAS and Nadcap accreditations".
"This has been achieved by a dedicated team combined with the business acumen of the parent company in the USA".
"I can foresee a bright future for Westmoreland Mechanical Testing and Research".
The UK facility is currently home for a growing number of both servohydraulic and electromechanical testing frames; an additional five new frames for low cycle fatigue and a 500kN tensile frame are due for imminent delivery.
The facility also has a number of slow strain rate machines.
Testing can be conducted at ambient and elevated temperatures.
A key business area is fracture toughness testing for the aerospace industry.
A number of automotive companies also feature on WMT and R's key account list.
WMT and R's machine shop has been equipped with an extensive range of machinery including CNC milling machines, lathes, saws and shears.
A horizontal mill has been purchased primarily for precision notching of fracture toughness specimens.
The metallography department provides a full range of micro and macro examination with digital image analysis and optical emission spectroscopy for chemical analysis.
Corrosion testing capabilities include alternate immersion, exfoliation and salt fog evaluations.
Small parts and components can be heat treated up to 1000C.
