Roller bearings keep quiet about load
capacity

Wyko has extended its comprehensive range of high capacity bearings with NSK's unique design of cylindrical roller bearing (CRB).

Wyko has extended its comprehensive range of high capacity bearings with NSK's unique design of cylindrical roller bearing (CRB) The new design offers up to 20% higher load capacity, quieter operation (up to 7dB lower) and lower temperature running than conventional bearings of the same size

The combination of a new cage material and an increased roller complement has produced a bearing that will benefit OEMs by allowing smaller bearings to be fitted in applications, reducing costs without affecting machine performance.

Wyko Industrial Services is set to meet the ever increasing demands of modern industrial power transmission applications with NSK's new EW series roller bearing, which offers improved levels of load ratings, reliability and operating life.

The key to the improved performance of the EW series roller bearings is the increased number of larger rollers.

These can be accommodated due to a new design of cage, which is stronger than competitive designs due to its optimised design combined with the new high strength steel.

As a result, the basic dynamic load ratings of the EW Series exceeds that of conventional cylindrical roller bearings by between 17 and 20% - without, incidentally, any reduction in axial load ratings.

This results in users benefiting from an improvement in theoretical operating life, by as much as 70%.

The cage material is a new NSK developed steel.

The exceptional strength this steel gives to the cage not only enables more rollers to be accommodated but also provides more reliability from the bearings in applications, such as gearboxes, where cage strength is important.

The efficiency of the cage design is such that the EW bearings achieve lower running temperatures, despite their increased roller complement.

The greater guidance provided by the roller guiding areas within the cage reduces harmful skewing of the rollers to a minimum, leading to lower temperatures and improved operating life.

The addition of the higher load ratings and longer life EW series bearing to the Wyko portfolio addresses another major concern in industrial systems: noise.

Here again, the unique cage design is pivotal.

It ensures that the cage is so well balanced that vibration within the bearings is substantially reduced, resulting in quieter running.

Tests against competitive designs show the EW units have noise levels about 7dB lower, providing a real advantage for designers who need to reduce the noise emissions from their equipment.

With their high load ratings, the EW series bearings are suitable for use in demanding applications in steel making, materials handling, gearboxes and large kilowatt electric motors. Request a free brochure from Eriks UK ...
