Wyko will showcase the latest maintenance products and services for the oil and gas industry next month at Offshore Europe 2003 in Aberdeen The company's central theme will be providing engineers with the choice of whether to "repair or replace" systems and equipment

The necessary data to make that decision can be provided by a full range of condition monitoring services on show, including a revolutionary new high voltage systems check exclusively available from Wyko.

Electrical and mechanical systems repairs are then featured alongside new motors and gearbox alternatives and other replacement products from leading suppliers such as; high-performance bearings from SKF and wear resistant oilfield chain from Renold.

Wyko is launching the next generation of condition monitoring equipment at the Offshore show in the form of a unique partial discharge detection test unit, that provides a full high voltage (HV) systems health check in a matter of minutes.

Using any existing monitoring sources such as transient earth voltage probes and an innovative new application of Rogowski coils, the test unit can provide accurate results for motors, switchgear and transformers while they remain in operation.

The new test procedure is in marked contrast to the lengthy, expensive traditional methods that require large amounts of equipment and cause many hours of downtime.

Other highlights of the services available include Wyko's HV fan overhaul capability which has been recently extended by investment in the latest balancing and testing equipment for use both on and off site.

The condition monitoring services on show also include thermographic surveys and a vibration testing program that includes a new facility for calculating how long workers can safely use specific power tools to minimise the risk of hand arm vibration syndrome or "white finger".

To make sure oil and gas production systems remain operational during power cuts, Wyko is also introducing the full range of Hewden generators (up to 250kVA) available as sales and hire.

Customers both on and offshore can also take advantage of the Wyko emergency power commissioning and monitoring service which ensures that processing, lighting and emergency systems are backed up 24 hours a day.

Also on the stand will be a full range of API approved Renold oilfield chains that provide supreme performance at high speeds and under heavy shock loads.

By heat treating pins and pre-stressing plates, bushes and rollers, Renold has increased the fatigue life of the chains, making them an ideal choice for demanding applications.

Part of the stand will be dedicated to the latest SKF bearings including the new high performance Explorer class and their new slewing bearings for offshore rotating structures.

Slewing bearings featured are available up to several meters in diameter and can be employed throughout the sector in applications such as boom crane pedestals and FPSO installations.

Also on show will be SKF's energy saving bearing heaters, belt alignment laser tools and a new bearing handling tool, which makes fitting large bearings quick, simple and safe.

Antistatic belts, high-performance seals and fasteners will also be exhibited on the Wyko stand, but these are just a sample of the wide range of maintenance, repair and overhaul products and services that are available from over 170 local branches nationwide, including experienced branches and repair workshops close to the oil and gas industry in Yarmouth, Aberdeen and other areas of Scotland.
