Servo boosts machine efficiency and
performance

The Sanmotion Q servo system uses a patented servomotor to reduce power losses and increase energy efficiency by 20% in comparison with previous generations of servo drive.

The Sanmotion Q servo system uses a patented servomotor to reduce power losses and increase energy efficiency by 20% in comparison with previous generations of servo drive The patented technology also reduces the cogging torque of the motors by about 33%, providing ultrasmooth rotation, high levels of response and exceptional positional accuracy for use in the high precision applications such as semi-conductor manufacturing equipment, chip mounters, robots, machine tools, printing and packaging

The patented Q series AC servomotor has been designed to minimise the sum of copper loss and iron losses from the motor armature.

This is achieved by optimising the pole count and slot combination and by optimising the magnetic circuit consisting of the armature iron core and permanent magnets.

As a result, the efficiency of the Q series servomotor has been raised to 95%, providing a highly effective energy saving (20% or more) servo system, when combined with the Sanmotion Q amplifier.

Furthermore with cogging torque reduced to less than 1% of rated torque, smoother drive performance is guaranteed together with improved accuracy and reduced machine vibration.

In addition, the motors are also more resistant to the environment, due to their IP67 protection class, and can achieve higher operating speeds, up to 5000rev/min.

In common with all servo drives in Wyko's Sanyo Denki range, the Sanmotion Q is a compact, cost effective servo drive system introduced to enhance OEM competitiveness.

The system is designed with a high performance CPU that shortens sampling times to improve frequency response, and includes a new type of position and speed controller that reduces the stabilisation time for positioning substantially.

The controller also improves positional control tracking ability, achieving almost zero position deviation.

Also included in the comprehensive system architecture are vibration control functions, which are designed to facilitate high levels of response with low levels of vibration.

The all-in-one design of the Sanmotion Q provides torque, position and speed control operation, all selectable by the user.

It reduces OEM costs with built-in dynamic brake and regeneration resistor functions, the former operating when the servo operation is interrupted or turned off, and the latter protects the motor by absorbing the power regenerated during deceleration.

The task of getting Sanmotion Q Series online quickly and simply is greatly assisted by automatic motor recognition and auto-tuning functions, the latter automatically measuring machine characteristics to set the necessary servo gain.

In addition, setting and monitoring functions are easily accomplished with a built in operator panel that expedites parameter setting.

For more involved applications, programming and monitoring can be undertaken with a PC using Sanyo Denki setup software.

In addition to parameter setting, this enables users to graphically display monitoring waveforms of position, speed or torque, for up to fifteen, RS232 linked, Sanmotion Q amplifiers.

Once the system is set, a jog test function can be employed to check the connection between the motor and the amplifier, the feature allowing easy test operation without the requirement to input position and speed commands.

The Sanmotion Q system is the ideal product for the export-oriented OEM, complying with UL, cUL and CE requirements and meeting the demands of the CE Low Voltage Directive without requiring additional isolation.

Manufactured in an ISO9001 facility, the Sanmotion Q range includes 54 models rated from 30W to 7kW, and with rated torques from 0.098 to 67Nm. Request a free brochure from Eriks UK ...
