Wyko Industrial Services has won an GBP 890,000 contract for repairing pumps and motors for all 2400 Southern Water sites.

Wyko Industrial Services has won an GBP 890,000 contract for repairing pumps and motors for all 2400 Southern Water sites.

The contract has the potential to be worth up to GBP 1 million per annum.

Wyko was chosen because it has the infrastructure required to support so many sites across the four counties and to carry out repairs, regardless of equipment size or make.

Additional benefits to the customer of consolidating on one service supplier includes 24h support and expert advice backed by one of the most comprehensive range of industrial maintenance equipment and services providers available in the UK.

The framework agreement is for the repair of pumps and motors to over 2400 sites throughout the Southern Water region, which covers all the processing and pumping stations in Hampshire, Kent, East and West Sussex as well as the Isle of Wight.

The area services four million customers at 1.7 million properties, requiring Southern Water to process over 1.4 million litres of water each day.

Mary Whelan, Business Development Manager for the area, explained: "We are currently drafting in more staff into our existing branch structure and in May we are opening a new branch in Ashford, Kent to ensure outstanding service levels are maintained for the account".

"The agreement includes the repair of 12 different pump types, ranging from dry and wet well to multi-stage, self-priming mixer and stirrer pumps as well as all the associated motors".

Whelan adds: "Wyko are also able to assess each pump and motor individually in order to decide whether it is in the best interests of Southern Water to repair or replace it and provide solutions within tight deadlines".

"The deal is important not only in terms of size, but responsibility, as such a vital service must be kept operating smoothly".

"This is of particular importance for the 400 wastewater treatment works throughout the region where sewerage is processed, ensuring only safe treated water is released".

Wyko has proven its capability and reliability through similar contacts with other water authorities, which have brought a wealth of experience to this recent significant contract.

The deal is a typical example of the complete repair or replace service available through over 170 Wyko branches and workshops nationwide, offering the customer benefits in terms of reduced inventory costs, and easier access to perhaps the broadest range of pumping products available from a single source.

Other Wyko services include generator supply and maintenance; condition monitoring, all electro mechanical repair as well as general industrial component and systems supply.
