Servos come as easy-to-apply packages

The new MMC smart drive from Giddings and Lewis comprises a range of servo amplifiers that provide 0.5 to 24kW continuous output power in a compact, easy-to-apply package.

The new MMC smart drive from Giddings and Lewis comprises a range of servo amplifiers that provide 0.5 to 24kW continuous output power in a compact, easy-to-apply package Available for both single-phase 230V AC and three-phase 460V AC supplies, the MMC has a host of user friendly features including intuitive windows based software for easy programming and a novel virtual oscilloscope display function to view servo performance

An integral power supply and plug-and-play cabling, added to the new software make installation very simple for this drive.

Configuration, tuning and maintenance are also simple using PiCPro software which features familiar ladder logic, function block and structured text programming languages, allowing a wide range of users to develop complete multi-axis motion control solutions.

Another user friendly feature in the software also provides a virtual oscilloscope that displays a graphical real-time view of servo system performance that allows programmers and operators to check detailed performance results at a glance.

The onboard software also provides an auto tune mode to automatically detect load inertia for simple servo tuning.

High bandwidth control loops allow for the fast changing load conditions that are typically found in industrial machinery applications.

Additional software protection is provided against overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature detection to look after the drive, motor and application.

An internal 24V DC power supply also allows the MMC to maintain drive control power while line voltage is removed for safe easy troubleshooting and feedback tracking.

The MMC is also highly compact; the dimensions of the 0.5kW unit are just 94 x 257 x 156mm making it ideal for use on machines where panel space is at a premium.

Each unit includes a range of digital and analogue I/O points and two high resolution feedback ports intended for encoders and resolvers.

All 11 sizes from 0.5 to 24kW are available direct from all Wyko branches. Request a free brochure from Eriks UK ...
