Acoustic isolation systems keep it quiet
The new Paulstra Strasonic acoustic isolation systems now available from Wyko Industrial Services are designed specifically to reduce airborne noise in industrial applications.
Paulstra Strasonic acoustic isolation systems from Wyko Industrial Services are designed specifically to reduce airborne noise in industrial applications.
Typical examples include any loud equipment that is located in the working environment such as compressors, generators and process plant equipment.
Strasonic is supplied in easy to install panels and can reduce noise levels by up to 25dB, offering maintenance engineers a cost effective way of reducing sound levels in the workplace and meeting current strict regulations.
It is estimated that 1.3 million workers are exposed to noise levels above the legal limit as determined by the 1989 Noise at Work Regulations, resulting in many UK employers being at risk from liability and fines.
However, in many cases these penalties can be easily avoided and the work environment improved by retrofitting the next generation of Strasonic sound isolating panels from Wyko.
The range comprises three basic types.
Polyurethane foam panels are available with a self-adhesive backing, suitable for applications with temperatures ranging from -25 to +110C and reduce can noise levels by 25dB when applied to 2mm steel sheet.
For motor and pump system housings in the treatment and processing industries, a smooth heavyweight version is included that offers a reduced profile and 100% waterproof qualities.
Fire resistant melamine resin based foam panels designed for anything from ventilation to gearbox systems where temperatures up to 150C are expected and levels of fire resistance M1/UL94 - B1/DIN 4102 are required.
For use in similar applications, but where there is either presence of oil and high fire risk, an NBR-PVC based foam panel is available which is ideal for compressor and exhaust systems, due to its very low smoke emissions and self-extinguishable properties.
Cellular rubber panels are also included in the range, which can reduce high frequency noise levels by up to 27dB.
Resistant to oil, air, ozone and temperatures up to 130C, they provide the ideal solution for air jet positioning, high speed drills and sand blasting systems.
