Maintenance products take to the field

An Eriks UK product story

A new range of Henkel Loctite maintenance products are designed specifically to extend the life of quarry equipment at a minimum of effort and cost.

Wyko Industrial Services is launching a new range of Henkel Loctite maintenance products on stand P135 AT Hillhead 2005 that are designed specifically to extend the life of quarry equipment at a minimum of effort and cost.

To protect and repair chutes, cyclones and pump housings, the offering includes the Norbak ready-to-use range of products that combine the wear resistance of two-part epoxies with the convenience of brushable or trowlable compounds.

For on-site repairs, the innovative new Loctite "glue-stick" containers provide engineers with the pocket sized solution to locking threads, sealing pipes as well as avoiding seized components.

Designed with utmost convenience in mind, the new Loctite range of handy maintenance products being demonstrated by Wyko on its stand at Hillhead 2005 illustrate how on-site repairs in the extraction industries can become, quicker, easier and far more cost effective.

The new ranges avoid the need for equipment to be replaced, having to be moved for repair or require cumbersome equipment to get systems back on line.

Available in trowlable and brushable formulas, Loctite's Nordbak range comprises seven different ready-for-use compounds with the strength and wear resistance of two-part epoxies.

Formula 7218 in the range offers outstanding resistance to large particle wear even when temperatures reach 120C, making it ideal for rebuilding and protecting chutes, pump housings, elbows, cyclones and other materials handling equipment.

Loctite has produced a 7226 formula for repairing pump housings and associated equipment, which protects equipment from finer particle abrasion in the same temperature range.

However, some equipment like elbow joints in pneumatic systems for example, are subjected to fine particles at high pressures with temperatures exceeding those of pumping components, so a 7229 compound resistant to 230C will be demonstrated on the stand.

A rubber based epoxy for low temperature, high impact applications will be on show.

It is easy to apply and significantly extends the life of flumes, troughs, elbows hoppers, chutes and similar surfaces.

For internal chambers in pump housings and impellers, a range of brushable, ultrasmooth ceramic reinforced epoxies are also available that provide a high gloss, low friction coating to provide protection against turbulence, abrasion and cavitations, prolonging service life even when high temperatures are expected.

Loctite pipe sealant, thread locking and release compounds in "glue-stick" containers give engineers a quick, economical and pocket-sized solution to maintenance procedures.

An added bonus when using the Henkel Loctite locking adhesive is that it has a semi-solid consistency enabling it to be pre-applied to threads at ground level.

In addition it will remain in place until the components are joined, removing the need for engineers to struggle up ladders with a tin and brush.

The compound can secure thread sizes up to M36 against vibrations in as little as 2h, even when joining surfaces are contaminated by oil.

When it comes to disassembly of pumps and motors, either in the workshop or on site, Loctite offers the ultimate convenience in the form of a medium strength retaining compound, ideal for attaching cylindrical parts that may have to be separated during the course of maintenance such as fitting bearings onto shafts and into housings.

Re-assembly is also facilitated with the 534 stick adhesives for holding gaskets in place during complicated procedures, as well as Loctite 548 medium strength flange sealant sticks that enable engineers to completely replace rigid gaskets by wiping just a thin, even, film over the contact surface.

Pipe sealing has never been easier with the stick version of Loctite 561 general-purpose anaerobic pipe sealant, specially formulated to offer an instant seal in low temperature applications and offers resistance of temperatures up to +150C.

Copper based anti-seize sticks are also included in the new range for ease of maintenance an crane assemblies, power plants, cylinder head and exhaust manifold studs, coal crushers, pump housings and many other high temperature applications.
