Synchronous belts suit high torque
drives

Synchronous belts for high torque drives that operate in a small space can also deliver cost savings in existing applications because smaller power transmission components can be specified.

The Fenner Torque Drive Plus 3 (TDP3) synchronous belts range is for high torque drives that operate in a small space The increased performance can also deliver cost savings in existing applications because smaller power transmission components can be specified

The TDP3 is compatible with standard HTD pulleys, but is quieter and transmits higher loads than a standard V-belt or other synchronous belt alternatives.

The heavy duty synchronous or timing belt is for use where high performance levels are required.

The material construction improves tooth stability and wear resistance, resulting in an increase in belt-life in addition to an overall improvement in performance.

The belts operate equally well in reversing applications and have low backlash figures.

The belt backing is constructed from robust polychloroprene; this layer encloses glass cord tensioning members that prevent stretching and provide the ability to handle high dynamic loads.

The teeth are also polychloroprene, but covered with a hard-wearing polyamide fabric that ensures a smooth, quiet engagement and high durability.

Smoother engagement also delivers some gains in overall drive efficiency.

The material construction makes them suitable for drives with high dynamic and speed requirements, ensuring long-term and safe performance where lower quality alternatives would not.

In some applications, the improvement in belt life can be up to three times that of standard belts.

TDP3 belts can run on standard HTD section pulleys ensuring a wide availability of compatible pulleys and a cost effective drive design.

Within typical performance parameters, drives up to 20% narrower can be specified for the same power rating as previous designs, leading to a 30% cost and weight saving on the narrower drives.

Narrower belts for the same power also lead to drive noise reductions; actual decibel figures vary based on the size and operating speed of the drive but an average reduction of up to -5dB is possible.

The reduction in noise compared with other drive methods such as chain can be higher.

TDP3s are available in standard 8M and 14M pitch sizes, (5M is also available, but not as standard stock).

Authorised distributors centrally stock as common lengths in a wide-roll format.

Belts can be cut to match any width and despatched same-day to the distributor network direct from stock.

Compatible pulleys covering every size and mounting option are also available from distributors, as is advice on specification, fitting and maintenance.

The drives can be designed on line by visiting the Fenner Group web site.

The drive design assistant references thousands of variables and applies proven formulas developed to optimise performance and longevity.

Electrical conductivity figures for the TDP3 comply with ISO 9563, making the belts anti-static as standard.

The belts are moderately resistant to oils, unaffected by tropical climates and suitable for temperatures from -20 to +100C according to application. Request a free brochure from Eriks UK ...
