Wyko is celebrating the 75th anniversary of electromechanical repairs at Swansea with tours of the modern facility and an exhibition at the city's new GBP 27 million Liberty Stadium.

The theme of the open day and exhibition is one of success for local industry, taking into account a history that gives the company an enviable knowledge and experience, mixed with the growth in facilities, services and products the company can now offer.

Mike Harris the Wyko Branch Manager, comments: "It is quite likely that we are the oldest rewind company in the world, as this site first became an electromechanical repair shop some 75 years ago when there wasn't a huge amount of electrical equipment actually in use".

"The motors that were used in industry then needed rewinding far more often than they do today and were normally insured".

"Our facility was set up by an insurance company to assess and rewind motors and get companies up and running again as quickly as possible, as new machines back then were also massively expensive".

Things have moved on though, and Wyko Swansea now provides expert repairs on motors, pumps, gearboxes, and various other items of mechanical end electrical power transmission equipment.

The Wyko group is the UK's leading supplier of industrial replacement components, maintenance equipment and services.

The open day is designed to help showcase all the value added services that are now available, opening up opportunities in terms of new local business and strengthening ties with the existing customer base.
