XP Power launches DC/DC converters

A XP Power product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Oct 2, 2008

XP Power has announced the JCJ08, JCJ10 and JCG12 families of low-power, isolated and regulated DC/DC converters.

In an industry-standard metal-cased DIP-24 package measuring just 31.75 x 20.32 x 10.40mm, the converters offer 8, 10 and 12W output models with a 2:1 input voltage range.

The DIP-24 format makes them suitable as a low-cost drop-in replacement or a power upgrade in existing end products, saving the need to re-design the PCB layout.

The JCJ08 and JCJ10 series are rated at 8 and 10W respectively while the JCG12 is rated at 12W.

The units offer the wide 2:1 input voltage options of 9 18VDC, 18 36VDC or 36 75 VDC, covering the nominal application voltages of 12, 24 and 48VDC.

Single output models are available with an output voltage of 2.5, 3.3, 5, 12 or 15VDC.

Dual output models offer +/-12 or +/-15VDC outputs and +/-5VDC for the JCJ08.

The outputs are regulated to within +/-0.5 per cent over all input conditions and to less than +/-1 per cent for all load conditions.

The JCJ08 and JCJ10 models provide an input to output isolation of up to 1,500VDC for 1 minute.

The JCG12 series is rated to 1,600VDC isolation.

The units operate over a wide temperature range of -40C to +100C.

No additional heat sinking or forced airflow is required for the converter to achieve its full output rating.

The JCG12 unit features a remote on/off signal that can be used to control the output rails or to sequence start-up procedures.

These highly efficient DC/DC converters, up to 91 per cent for the JCG12, are very reliable with an MTBF greater than 1 million hours.

All units feature overvoltage and continuous short-circuit protection.

The JCJ08, JCJ10 and JCG12 are available from XP Power and Farnell.
