Threebond expands Gold Label series of adhesives

A ThreeBond Europe product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jun 25, 2009

The Threebond 7700 Gold Label series of premium cyanoacrylate instant adhesives has been joined by the TB7737 and TB7738, offering ultra-high peel and impact resistance.

The added elastomer toughening of the TB7737 and the TB7738 enable them to be used in areas where conventional 'instants' would not survive, such as in hotter/harsher environments.

In addition, the Gold Label series has been enhanced by the introduction of a high-reliability multi-primer for instant adhesives.

Threebond 7797 is suitable for difficult-to-bond plastics such as nylon, PBT, PE, PP and PTFE, where it can produce orders of magnitude improvements in adhesion, creating a performance comparable with recognised 'no-problem' adherends such as metals and easy-to-bond plastics.

Threebond's Gold Label series 7737 and 7738 are produced as semi-gels, with viscosities of 2,000cps and 5,000cps respectively, making them drip free, meaning that they can be used on vertical surfaces and for electronic parts, speaker components or vehicle weather strip, while being fluid enough to dispense or apply to small parts.

They both offer increased lap shear strength (resistance to peel) and improved impact resistance compared to conventional products, especially under high heat stress and heat cycling, according to the company.

TB7737 and TB7738 are characterised by their differing performances, dependant on the adherent substrate, so it is important to select the appropriate adhesive for the material involved.

The TB7797 primer, however, can be used with any of the 7700 Gold Label series or TB1700 series and features improved adhesion for difficult adherends.

It is quick drying and has good workability, with application by brush, cotton swab or other.
