Industrial thin client computers save on cost

Xycom Automation, the market leader in Industrial PC and PC-based control products, introduces the 3400 series of Thin Client Products.

This new series, branded Openclient, is based on Thin Client Enabling Technology from Automation Control Products (ACP) of Georgia, USA.

The thin client implementation enables broad use of PC-based operator stations without the need for application support at each station and opens possibilities for cost savings on hardware and software purchases".

Thin client architecture allows operators local process monitoring and control facilities whilst maintaining a single "master" application at the server.

In addition to savings in software costs for some application types this architecture allows simpler and cheaper terminals to be used for the thin clients.

The Windows-based management software, ThinManager(tm), available from ACP, handles management of all the Thin Clients on the network.

With ThinManager, the system administrator can configure or reconfigure the Thin Clients either individually or in groups.

The combination of ACP's ThinManager software with the Xycom Automation Openclient product range provides a powerful solution for customers interested in reducing the lifecycle cost of PC-based solutions in factory environments without compromising on utility or performance.
