Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jan 23, 2001

Xycom Automation has announced that it is being acquired by Pro-face America, a majority owned subsidiary of Digital Electronics Corporation, with the deal likely to be completed in February 2001

Xycom Automation, the market leader in Industrial PC, VMEbus and PC-based control products, reports that Pro-face America, a majority owned subsidiary of Digital Electronics Corporation, has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Xycom Automation.

The acquisition is expected to close in mid-February 2001.

Xycom Automation Limited, the wholly owned European subsidiary of Xycom Automation and based in the UK, forms part of the acquisition.

Ian Law, Sales Director for the European operation, says "Both companies enjoy significant market penetration in the major European markets but with complementary product ranges.

The combination creates a company with great strength in both breadth and depth in its target markets throughout the industrialised world".

James E.

McGrath, Chairman of the Board of Xycom Automation, comments "Digital Electronics' substantial resources, market presence and capabilities will help Xycom to realise its full potential as a leader in the industrial PC market, a position which should be enhanced with this strategic move.

The strong focus and commitment of Digital to the Human Machine Interface industries, combined with Xycom's leadership and large installed base in the industrial PC market makes a suberb business combination".
