Automotive courses run hot and cold

A XyoTech Engineering Associates product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 18, 2008

XyoTech Engineering Associates is running courses on two key areas of automotive thermal systems during March 2009.

"Design and development of automotive HVAC systems" will be run on 9th and 10th March 2009, and "Design and development of automotive engine cooling systems" will follow on 11th and 12th March 2009, both in Southfield, Michigan.

The instructor for both courses is Al Kargilis, PE, who has more than 40 years experience in the design and development of automotive, truck, military and off-highway vehicle HVAC and engine cooling components and systems.

He has written HVAC and engine cooling design and development texts, test procedures and standards used throughout the USA and world.

The objective of the two day HVAC course is to study the different components of the automotive HVAC system and to demonstrate how they may be combined to produce an effective, pleasing to the customer, product.

Emphasis is placed on safety, quality, timing and cost.

The contribution of the HVAC system on emissions and fuel economy is also presented.

The importance of communication and interaction with different engineering groups and disciplines are stressed to enable the most efficient packaging of the HVAC system within the real estate constraints of the vehicle.

The objective of the two day engine cooling course is to study the different components of the automotive cooling system and to demonstrate how they may be combined to produce an effective, high quality system at low cost.

Emphasis is placed on safety, quality, timing and cost.

The effect of the engine cooling system on engine design and durability is also discussed.

The importance of communication and interaction with different engineering groups and disciplines, including manufacturing, are stressed to minimise warranty and to enable meeting all engine cooling functional objectives and costs within the packaging constraints under the hood.

These courses have been presented many times to thousands of engineers and other members of the automotive thermal systems field.
