Successful drilling and tapping centre now in UK
Following impressive sales in Italy and the rest of continental Europe, the Samsung LCV30A high speed drilling and tapping centre is now available in the UK from Surrey-based Yamazen (UK).
Performance Line VMCs are ideal for the precise and productive machining of cast iron and/or steel components.
All Fadal machines are available in this country from Yamazen (UK).
The new Fadal VMC 6535 is a heavy duty and rigid machine (weighing some 28,000 lb) which has axis travels of 1651 (X) by 889 (Y) by 864 mm (Z ) and is powered by a 16.8 kW AC motor.
It has been developed to deliver high metal removal rates and reduced part cycle times while providing increased positioning accuracy (to +/- 0.005 mm) and repeatability (to +/- 0.0025 mm).
The machine is constructed around heavy cast iron and flame hardened box ways and features a two-speed Vector spindle drive system and large 63 mm diameter ballscrews to handle heavier loads and more aggressive cutting.
Combined with high performance axis drives, the machine can produce up to 22,727 N of thrust over the full working envelope.
A swarf conveyor is supplied as standard.
Standard spindle speed on this No 40 spindle taper machine is 10,000 rev/min (although there is a 15,000 rev/min option) and rapid traverse rates are 22.8 m/min in X and Y axes.
The work table measures a generous 1905 by 889 mm so quite large and bulky components weighing up to 1930 kg can be handled.
On the tool change front, the dual arm unit can hold 24 tools (measuring up to 101 mm diameter and weighing up to 7 kg) and exchange times are just 1.9 sec.
The Fadal 6535 is also equipped with the Cool Power -- a system designed to combat the adverse affects of thermal expansion by way of recirculating cooled fluid through such key elements as the spindle, headstock and ballscrews.
Control is from Fadal's own MP system or Siemens units -- the latter can be supplied with ShopMill software for fast and effective on-machine programming.
Options available with the VMC 6535 include: glass scales, through-the-tool coolant, a digitising package, pallet changer, fourth (rotary) and fifth (tilt) axis units, tool breakage detection and tool load compensation.
