Production at Yaskawa's Scottish manufacturing plant is up to an average of 18,000 inverters a month across a range of seven models and in sizes from 100W to 160kW.

The increase in output is to meet market demand for the company's drives in the UK and Europe and follows a trend that has been progressing for the past couple of years since the plant opened.

Indeed, the production increase has been three-fold in two years and indicators suggest this will continue to increase for some time yet.

The Scottish factory at Cumbernauld is a modern, purpose built, facility of 10,000m2, which has an enviable record for productivity, profitability and quality.

In fact, the quality standard achieved is well in excess of the highest standards globally, just 0.1% assembly failures, 0.5% parts failures and 0.0033% failure in the field! These figures are based on real data, not assimilated from statistical assumptions.

The factory employs 125 people and has room for further expansion up to 30,000m2.

It is ISO 9000 certificated and has test facilities to enable CE and UL approvals on all the product manufactured at the site.

Mr David Taddei, operations director at the plant commented, "We have a remarkable workforce at the Cumbernauld factory and the management understands every aspect of what we do here".

The commitment to quality, efficiency and effectiveness runs top down at the Yaskawa factory, the majority of the plant's systems have been developed in house to world class standards.
