Engineers in Europe who use Yaskawa inverters, servo drives and motion controllers will benefit from a new service thanks to the formation of a joint venture company with Omron Europe.
Engineers in Europe who use Yaskawa inverters, servo drives and motion controllers will benefit from a new service thanks to the formation of a joint venture company with Omron Europe.
From 1st April 2003, the new company, called Omron Yaskawa Motion Control, will extend both the product and service offerings from the two automation giants.
For many years Yaskawa has manufactured the AC inverter and servo motion products sold under Omron's own brand throughout Europe.
The two companies have enjoyed a particularly close partnership throughout that time and the formalising of that relationship delivers advantages to customers of both companies.
Yaskawa customers gain access to Omron's first class logistics and broad industrial products range.
Omron's customers benefit from Yaskawa's exceptional technical and applications support for its motors and drives.
The existing network of Omron national sales companies (NSCs) will be complemented by the addition of the current Yaskawa sales partners.
All part numbers of the motors and drives will remain Yaskawa's to facilitate global support for the products by Yaskawa.
The joint venture company, registered in the Netherlands as Omron Yaskawa Motion Control, is capitalised 60% by Omron and 40% by Yaskawa.
Initial staffing will be 12 people, based at the joint venture company's headquarters, housed within Omron's existing European offices in Hoofddorp, near Amsterdam.
Omron Yaskawa Motion Control is expected to have a first year turnover of nearly Eur 100 million.
Yaskawa is the world's largest volume manufacturer of motor control equipment, while Omron is a global leader in the manufacture and supply of a broad range of automation products.
Yaskawa Electric's European President, Gen Kudoh, commented on the new initiative by saying, "Yaskawa has great strength in product design and manufacturing.
We have a history of pioneering the application of advanced automation, motion and control technology with a reputation for reliability that is second to none".
He went on to explain, "Omron provides complete automation solutions to industry, has a well established, efficient and effective distribution network and is a tier one supplier in Europe.
Our collaboration means industry has greater access to Yaskawa products, while Omron can deliver additional products to our existing customers".
