Yokogawa has added Windows XP functionality in the latest version of its Centum CS3000 distributed control system, making it the world's first product of its type to feature this operating system.
Yokogawa has added Windows XP functionality in the latest version of its Centum CS3000 distributed control system (DCS), making it the world's first product of its type to feature this operating system.
CS3000 is the pre-eminent control system in the world, with over 6000 installed in high-integrity plants and processes globally; it was also the first DCS system launched in the 1970s, and is unique in having a migration path that fully encapsulates all its systems back to the original launch.
The new system integrates the latest advances in information technology to provide enhanced remote communications for operation and engineering, including a sequence-of-events manager for real-time analysis of information from safety-critical systems.
The Windows XP operating system allows superior connectivity between enterprise resource planning, manufacturing execution and other management information systems for real-time management, control and communications.
An expanded range of input/output facilities includes a CENELEC approved remote I/O system based on Ethernet connectivity and suitable for Zone 2 installation in hazardous areas.
Improved test functions allow for the virtual testing of Foundation Fieldbus devices, removing the need for field-based test equipment.
The Centum CS3000 also features enhanced compliance to the FDA 21 CRF Part 11 regulations for systems used in the pharmaceutical industry.
