The new DL7200 Signal Explorer from Yokogawa is a high-performance digital oscilloscope which combines very high-speed sampling at up to 2 GS/s (gigasamples per second) with an exceptional memory length of up to 16 Mword per channel.

This combination of speed and memory allows the simple and accurate capture of complex signals, as well as the high-speed extraction and screen display of the desired information from large volumes of captured data.

The 4-channel instrument owes its performance to Yokogawa's unique Data Stream Engine (DSE): a 'system on a chip' integrated circuit specifically designed to handle large amounts of data at high speed.

As a result, it has a much faster screen update (30 per second) than conventional digital storage oscilloscopes, allowing it to emulate the 'real time' effect of an analogue instrument.

A colour accumulation function, combined with persistence display capabilities, allows the DL7200 to distinguish the frequency of events by colour.

This feature is particularly useful for jitter analysis of high-speed signals.

Unlike other digital oscilloscopes and logic analysers, the DL7200 does not sacrifice analogue channels to provide digital inputs.

As a result, 16 digital channels may be viewed on the same screen as all four analogue inputs.

A history memory function allows the user to capture high-speed glitches which would otherwise be lost if previous screen displays were not memorised.

The SignalExplorer DL7200 has a full-colour 8.4-inch screen, and includes SCSI, GPIB, RS-232, Centronics and Ethernet interfaces as well as a built-in printer and PC flashcard connector.
