A new wideband I/Q (in-phase/quadrature) demodulator provides unique high-bandwidth/ high-resolution capabilities as a key element in test systems

Yokogawa has introduced a wideband I/Q (in-phase/quadrature) demodulator which provides unique high-bandwidth/ high-resolution capabilities as a key element in test systems for wireless LANs, digital broadcasting and advanced mobile communications networks The new VN6000 provides down-conversion from RF to baseband frequencies as well as demodulation

It has a demodulation frequency bandwidth (-3 dB) of 120 MHz, and input frequency ranges of 220 MHz to 3.2 GHz, and 4.96 GHz to 6.2 GHz, with 0.1 Hz resolution.

Optional high-speed digitisers are available together with generation and analysis software for EVM (error vector magnitude) and BER (bit error rate) measurements.

Transmitter and receiver testing can be carried out for the IEEE802.11a, HIPERLAN/2 (OFDM) and IEEE802.11b (CCK) standards.

The instrument features RS-232 and GPIB interfaces, and a sampling clock generation function is available as an option.
