Young to offer water flow gravimetric calibration

A Young Calibration product story

Young Calibration has announced the completion of its new water flow gravimetric calibration facility

Located at new premises, the facility is currently offering traceable flowmeter calibrations from 1cc/min up to 2000litres/min on horizontal or vertical orientated flowmeters.

The flow rig will accommodate all types of meters up to 4in in size, whether volume or mass based and flowrate or flow total based.

Current meters which have passed through the facility include, coriolis, magnetic, turbine, variable area, vortex, ultrasonic and wedge type flowmeters.

With the facility incorporating three high accuracy balances and three reference master meters, calibrations are offered on a sliding cost scale depending on the uncertainty level required.

Young Calibration sees this as an important part of offering cost effective flow meter calibrations to the UK's many ISO 17025 Test laboratories without the need to go looking overseas for such calibrations.

To cover the calibration of high accuracy transfer standard level meters, a best measurement uncertainty is available down to 0.11 percent of reading on both mass and volume flow based calibrations using the gravimetric principles.

To cover the more general type, test flow meters where a lower accuracy is sufficient, a lower cost, and quicker calibration is offered using the permanently installed reference flowmeters.

The new rig extends the flow range from the present UKAS accredited maximum of 500 litres/min, and systems are firmly in place to bring the new calibration facility within their UKAS accredited schedule.
