Young expands test lab parameters

A Young Calibration product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 4, 2008

The Component Test Laboratory at Young Calibration has extended its schedule to cover a wider range of testing parameters for both thermal and mechanical testing.

The situation has been driven from several of its present customers requiring the complete sweep of pre-production validation tests to be undertaken at one laboratory.

The company has invested close to GBP150,000 in the past nine months equipping these new test facilities.

The new additions to the laboratory include a second larger shaker table and control system, a pneumatic pressure cycling test rig, an altitude test chamber, a thermal cycling test rig, a hose burst test rig, a low temperature test chamber and a low-turbulence wind tunnel with laser doppler anemometry.

All of the facilities and associated instrumentation are calibrated in accordance with ISO 17025.

The facility is designed to undertake component testing in the fields of heat exchangers, fluid flow products such as pumps, fans and coolers, electro-mechanical systems and battery testing.
