Single filter best for compressed air

A Zander-Hiross product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 15, 2000

A compressed air system fitted with a single Zander X-63 filter will achieve higher efficiency than a system using a number of conventional graduated filters.

The new X-63 range of filters from Zander is so efficient that a gas chromatograph was unable to measure the oil content in the system after the element.

Remarkably, the oil content of less than 0.00037 mg/m³ was achieved without an increase in the clean pressure drop! This means that a compressed air system fitted with a single Zander X-63 filter will achieve higher efficiency than a system using a number of conventional graduated filters.

Designed for use in high specification applications such as the bottled gas industry, X-63 filter elements are also available as direct replacements to upgrade the performance of compressed air filters from other manufacturers.

X-63 elements provide at least four times greater surface area than conventional wrapped elements and are machine made to ensure consistent performance.

Independent tests show that the lower pressure differential of 0.2 bar between Zander X-63 pleated elements and conventional wrapped elements achieves significant energy and cost savings.

In practice this means that fitting a Zander element on a 160kW compressed air installation could achieve annual savings of around £1500! The super-efficient performance of the X-63 makes it ideal for process applications in the food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, plastics and petrochemicals industries, where the quality of filtration is critical.
