New elements increase filtration capacity
A new range of long-life filter elements features a novel drain material (a coalescing sock) fitted inside the filter instead of outside, to protect it.
The quality of filter elements has become even more important as the purity standards required by today's compressed air and technical gases increases.
Yet most conventional filters still use a foam drain material fitted outside the elements - a design that can, under arduous conditions, deteriorate very quickly.
Typically, the material can harden or sinter due to high temperatures, tear due to high or pulsating pressure, be dissolved by chemicals, become detached by highly viscous oils, or dissolve or shed particles due to ageing.
Which is why Zander-Hiross, a specialist in the treatment of compressed air and gas, has introduced its new range of Advanced-Technology filter elements that feature a new drain material (a coalescing sock) fitted inside the filter instead of outside, to protect it.
This innovative new design provides greater stability and durability for the filter with no risk of particle shedding.
The drain material is also pleated with the filter fabric, like other Zander elements, giving up to 4.5 times the surface area.
Zander-Hiross managing director Nigel Morris says the company's current filter elements already have a class leading average residual oil content of 0.0039mg/m3 (0.013bar, 20C) but independent tests show that the new Advanced-Technology elements achieve values of only 0.0021mg/m3.
He adds that because the new drain material is much thinner than comparable foam coatings, pressure differentials are reduced by 25% while operational safety and filtration capacity are increased.
