Flanges make light of gearmotor construction

A novel mounting flange allows a wide range of gearheads to be mounted easily and accurately on popular NEMA-style motors.

A new and innovative mounting flange from Zeitlauf now allows a wide range of the company's gearheads to be mounted easily and accurately on popular NEMA-style motors.

Users can, therefore, quickly produce gearmotor assemblies to suit almost any application from a small range of standard parts, instead of having to order or stock complete assemblies which are individually customised to suit each application.

To facilitate ease of use, even under site conditions, the new NEMA mounting flanges incorporate an expanding clamp sleeve which automatically aligns the gearhead with the motor shaft, guaranteeing concentric mounting.

By eliminating mounting errors, this arrangement ensures that performance is in every way equal to factory-manufactured gearmotors, and that the long 5000-hour working life of the Zeitlauf gearheads is not impaired.

The new flanges are available for use with Zeitlauf Performax, Noiseless and Focus planetary gearheads, as well as Flatline and Compactline spur gears.

In all versions, power transmitted from the motor shaft to the gearhead is via precision-manufactured helical-tooth coupling pinions.

The versatile solution provided by the flanges is applicable to NEMA size 17, 23 and 34 motors, which covers the majority of small drives in common use.

Depending on the type of gearhead used, output torques from 0.5Nm to 50Nm can be accommodated.

In addition, since the modular Zeitlauf system includes more than 174 different variants, almost any required gear ratio can be accurately achieved.

Zeitlauf offers fast 48-hour dispatch for all standard products, including the new flanges, and, when up to 20 units are ordered from the standard range, the company offers an enhanced warranty.

Under the terms of this warranty, if a gearhead motor fails, for any reason, within a year of purchase, it will be replaced immediately, free of charge.
