For applications where the least possible gear play is an important requirement, Zeitlauf is now offering its renowned Performax products in high-precision Focus versions.

For applications where the least possible gear play is an important requirement, Zeitlauf is now offering its renowned Performax products in high-precision Focus versions These feature exceptionally tight manufacturing tolerances and a unique torsion-resistant design, ensuring that circumferential backlash is kept to an absolute minimum

Focus products also share the key characteristics of the other gearmotors in the Performax range, including low-noise operation, ground and hardened output shafts, and multiple gear engagement which allows high torque to be achieved with compact designs.

The units are also grease lubricated for life, making them completely maintenance free in operation.

Backlash-free Focus versions of the Performax gearmotors are offered in the popular 65mm diameter size with output torques up from 0.5Nm to 24.8Nm, depending on the reduction ratio of the gearbox fitted.

Single-stage gearboxes are available with ratios up to 11:1, and two stage gearboxes with ratios up to 113:1.

In the first gear stage, plastic wheels with helical teeth operate in an aluminium housing.

The planetary wheels are centred on a carrier cage, which is mounted on ball bearings.

This introduces the transferred torque to the second stage which has hardened hollow wheels with spur teeth and hardened steel planetary wheels.

The planetary wheels of the second stage run on needle bearings on the planet carrier, which in turn sits on the ground and hardened output shaft that also runs on double ball bearings.

As standard, Focus gearmotors are fitted with mechanically commutated permanent magnet motors designed for 24V DC operation.

The motors are suitable for use with external open- or closed-loop speed control.

The lifetime of the motors is at least 3000 hours (operating factor Cb = 1) while that of the gearbox is at least 5000 hours at the same operating factor.

Focus gearmotors in the Performax range can optionally be fitted, during manufacture, with integral brakes and encoders.
