Low-cost gearboxes boast high efficiency

A ZF Great Britain product story

The Graessner ValueGear range of gearboxes are designed to provide OEMs with the flexibility, precision, performance and reliability required in modern power transmission applications at lower cost.

The new Graessner ValueGear range of gearboxes from ZF Industrial are designed to provide OEMs with the flexibility, precision, performance and reliability required in modern power transmission and automation applications at a lower cost.

The single stage, right angle units offer highly efficient operation (98%), graduated performance and accept input speeds up to 2000rpm.

High levels of torque and rigidity are achieved via an optimised tooth pattern, and a lightweight extruded aluminium body promotes easy fitting and a more compact design envelope.

By offering a more compact and lower weight construction than other designs, the right angled Graessner ValueGear units can be used in a broader range of machine building and automation applications.

Available in four sizes, the gearboxes can accept input speeds up to 2000rev/min and ratios of 1:1 and 2:1.

The single stage units also provide highly efficient operation (98%), graduated performance with medium torque output at medium input speeds.

An extruded aluminium body avoids the need for complex casting and machining during manufacture, reducing production costs, unit weight and allowing for T-slots to be incorporated into the three flat faces.

By matching extruded machine frameworks, the slots enable quick and flexible mounting on packaging machines, transfer lines as well as weight critical, non-stationary applications.

Flexibility is further increased with two-way, three-way input/output shaft variations and a hollow shaft option is available for mounting directly onto motor spindles.

The ValueGear boxes also feature a parameter optimised Gleason gearing design that promotes high levels of rigidity and accuracy.

By using a shrink fitting technique for locating the shaft and gearwheel, the units can provide fretting free power transfer with high torque outputs ranging from 10 to 80Nm.

Reliability is further improved by packing the boxes with synthetic grease for maintenance free - lifetime lubrication.
