Gearheads allow servo drive to be turned 90deg
ZF Industrial's new WT range of gearheads provides machine designers with the convenient option of turning servomotor drive systems through 90 degrees.
Ideal for engineers and designers in printing, handling, robotics, winding and machine tool industries, the CD covers both single and twin stage gearheads with a range of ratios between 3:1 and 100:1.
Rated for motor input speeds from 3000 to 10,000rev/min as standard, the gearheads are compatible with a wide range of motor frame sizes and offer a broad range of fitting options.
With the inclusion of the new PG 25 unit, OEM's and users can also specify gearheads able to increase the torque of the smallest sizes of servomotors, providing greater flexibility to employ planetary systems for smaller, but still highly dynamic tasks in packaging, printing, labelling and x-y positioning applications.

Users can specify a gearhead by entering the fields for smallest ratio, highest ratio, lowest nominal torque, required output torque and choosing from continuous duty (S1) or cyclic S4/S5 designs.
Other options include selecting compatibility according to the top 50 motor makes, fitting requirements or model number.

PG gearheads offers all the traditional advantages of a planetary gearbox design: low weight, compactness and low noise, plus a combination of high efficiency and a low moment of inertia: two factors which keep energy losses to a minimum.
Also intrinsic to the design is a high degree of torsional rigidity.
It is this, and the guaranteed low levels of backlash, which makes the PG gear units particularly suitable for servo drive systems requiring exceptional levels of positional accuracy and reliability.
Key to the consistent and reliable performance of the PG gearheads is a specification that includes precision ground gears and high quality roller bearings.
Precision gear grinding (in pairs) is the reason for the extremely low backlash performance throughout the range, down to 3arc-min.
It also provides benefits in terms of quiet operation, with noise levels of the order of 65dB(A).
The roller bearings allow higher loads on the output shaft.
Their endurance, in combination with the high duty gearing, allows repeated stopping of the gearmotor without detracting from its precision performance. Request a free brochure from ZF Great Britain ...
