Clutches and brakes are drop-in replacements

A ZF Great Britain product story

ZF Industrial has expanded its existing range of industrial clutch and brake products further to include "drop in" replacements for a long list of other designs not previously available from ZF.

ZF Industrial has expanded its existing range of industrial clutch and brake products further to include "drop in" replacements for a long list of other designs not previously available from ZF.

Included in the list are models that offer a wide range of interchangeability options for units from Warner, Desch, Ortlinghaus, Twiflex, Binder, Wichita, Twin Disc and many more.

ZF Industrial has introduced the clutches and brakes on the back of its similarly expanding range of industrial gearbox products aimed at the machine tool industry.

Based on experience selling ZF power transmission components into the UK OEM and replacement markets, Dave Morgan Sales Engineer ZF Industrial UK points out the benefits for potential customers.

"There is a vast installed base of metalworking machine tools, packaging and processing machines etc in the UK and an equally bewildering number of industrial brake and clutch manufacturers worldwide".

"The engineers that are responsible for maintaining and overhauling these machines know that in most cases OEM supplied replacement parts are sold at a premium and are notorious for having discontinued lines".

"Our range and service offer a genuine alternative to this situation; the competitive pricing and technical advice we offer with our gearbox products has been transferred to our new wider range of clutches and brakes, the result is an effective 'one-stop-shop' for machine builders, repairers and maintenance engineers".

ZF Industrial's range now includes: electrically operated single disc clutches and brakes, double disk clutches and brakes, electrically operated single face clutches and brakes, safety clutches (for NC feed drives), tooth clutches, safety brakes, hydraulically and pneumatically operated clutches and brakes, both pressure and spring actuated clutches and brakes.

All the new industrial brakes and clutches available from ZF are technically advanced in design, compact, and robust in construction.

They also offer the advantages of working from low voltage (24V) supplies - many with the suitability for wet or dry operation and have minimum maintenance requirements.

In addition to its expanded general industrial range, ZF Industrial also provides its unique hysteresis brake and clutch products for use in precision applications.

The exact levels of control, and the unique combination of contact free and, therefore, wear free torque transmission, provided by these units, is ideally suited to all manufacturing processes where control of tension is required, eg the production of endless products such as wire, cable, paper and foil.
