Foams forms fit together to protect

A Zotefoams product story

A new system from Ramplas uses standard sized, durable, re-useable transit cases, with a Plastazote lining that has been preshaped with dog-bone interlocking features.

Ramplas, a member of the Ram Cellular Products Group has pioneered a new approach to the transport of valuable, and often priceless, pictures, antiquities and works of art, which relies on the unique properties of Plastazote.

When such articles are loaned out to other galleries for specific exhibitions, the conventional approach has previously been to construct a wooden crate and pack the item within in some impact absorbing material.

Return packing is not always done to the same standard because the inner packaging often becomes damaged or even lost.

The new system from Ramplas uses standard sized, durable, re-useable transit cases, with a Plastazote lining that has been preshaped with dog-bone interlocking features.

Museums and art galleries simply contact Ramfoam with their specific dimensional requirements and their foam engineers quickly machine a series of Plastazote inserts, which interlock tightly with the lining, forming a protective cell.

The case is provided to the gallery for the duration of the loan, after which time it is returned to Ramplas where it is fitted with new inserts for the next transit exercise.

Plastazote has become the material of choice worldwide for protecting valuable artefacts and works of art during storage and transit thanks to its excellent energy absorbing properties and outstanding purity.

Because of the way it is manufactured, using pure nitrogen for expansion it does not contain any potentially corrosive or staining residues that could cause damage to the case contents.

Museum curators like the system because it removes the need to dispose of crates when their items have been returned and they are assured of Plastazote protection.
