Novel foams boast consistent density

A Zotefoams product story

Two new ranges of heavier density crosslinked block foams are to be marketed under the Hizote brand.

Zotefoams' foam technologists have developed two new ranges of heavier density crosslinked block foams, which are to be marketed under the Hizote brand.

The foams are made using a novel free expansion manufacturing process that produces an extremely smooth, regular and fine cell structure and consistent density throughout the block.

The Hizote LH range is based on polyethylene whereas the Hizote EH range is manufactured from EVA (ethylene vinyl-acetate copolymer).

Hizote LH is initially available in two densities, 100kg/m3 black and 170kg/m3 white, while Hizote EH is offered in densities of 140 and 170kg/m3, both in white.

Further densities are currently under development and will be released in due course.

A major feature of the new foams is claimed to be their mouldability.

Tests have shown them to be particularly suited to compression thermoforming and vacuum forming where deeper draw ratios can be achieved.

Compared with other foams in their class, Hizote foams are claimed to have greater strength and superior recovery characteristics.

Applications for these grades of foam are known to be for three dimensional gaskets and void fillers in the automotive industry as well as a whole variety of general industrial, packaging and leisure uses.
