In the New Year's Honours List for 2001, David McMurtry, Chairman and Chief Executive, Renishaw plc has been appointed a Knight Bachelor, "for Services to Design and Innovation" This is the latest in a line of honours, which include Commander of the Order of the British Empire - CBE, awarded "for services to Science and Technology", and Royal Designer for Industry - RDI
He will be formally invested with the title at Buckingham Palace later this year.
Sir David established the first Renishaw company in 1973 with John Deer, Deputy Chairman.
Renishaw plc, whose headquarters and main site are located in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, currently employs just under 1,500 worldwide, over 1,000 in the UK.
